The Phoenix apps

In development

PhoenixPrint

A virtual LaserWriter, so a classic Mac can print to a modern one.

Concept art: a sheet of paper leaving the tray of a beige 1990s laser printer, its type an unreadable grey blur.
Concept art

PhoenixPrint appears in a classic Mac’s Chooser as a PostScript LaserWriter. It takes the job over AppleTalk and turns it into a PDF or a print on a modern printer.

It’s for anyone who wants paper, or a PDF, out of a classic application.

PhoenixPrint is in development. It’s being built now and hasn’t been released.

Designed to handle

  • AppleTalk Printer Access Protocol
  • PostScript jobs from classic LaserWriter drivers

Distribution

Planned for direct distribution from Gwythan (Developer ID, notarised). It needs low-level network access that the App Store sandbox doesn’t allow.
