PhoenixTalk
Put classic Macs back on the network: an AppleTalk bridge, router and dial-in server for modern macOS.

PhoenixTalk joins classic Macintosh machines, real or emulated, to each other and to a modern Mac. It bridges LocalTalk and EtherTalk, acts as a seed router with zones, shares files to classic Macs over AppleShare, and answers Apple Remote Access dial-ins through a real modem.
It’s for collectors with real hardware, emulator users, and anyone who wants the Chooser to show something again.
PhoenixTalk is in development. It’s being built now and hasn’t been released.
Designed to handle
- AppleTalk: DDP, RTMP, ZIP, NBP, ATP, ASP and PAP
- LocalTalk-over-UDP for emulators, and EtherTalk
- AFP file sharing
- Apple Remote Access over PPP, through a serial modem
Distribution
Planned for direct distribution from Gwythan (Developer ID, notarised). It needs low-level network and serial access that the App Store sandbox doesn’t allow.
